Day 1: Caracas.
Airport assistance in Maiquetia international airport when you arrive. Transfer to the Avila Rockefeller hotel located at the feet of the Avila Mountain. Overnight accommodation at the hotel.
Day 2: Caracas – Maturin.
Breakfast, and transfer to the airport. Flight to Maturin. Welcome at the airport. Transfer to the Camp. Welcome cocktail with a brief recognition of the establishment. Horse riding observing the beautiful nature. Observation and participation on the regrouping of the animals and the technique of the lasso and immobilization made for the cowboys. Free time to enjoy the amenities of the camp.
Day 3: Orinoco Delta.
Early breakfast with departure to the excursion on the Orinoco River, a vast, intricate labyrinth of waterways weaving through a simmering jungle to carry the waters of the Orinoco to the Atlantic ocean. The Orinoco Delta – the landmass now known as the state of Delta Amacuro has formed over the course of thousands of years as the mighty river has deposited millions of tons of sediment into the ocean.
The wildlife is also extremely rich and varied. Jaguar, puma and capuchin monkeys, giant otter, manatee and dolphins are just a handful of the countless species of mammal that can be observed in their natural habitats. Among the extensive bird population are hoatzin, macaws, parrots, toucans, falcons, hawks. There are also an untold number of amphibians, reptiles and fish species, with a population of 24,000, the Warao ethnic group constitute the second largest indigenous tribe in Venezuela. Family groups reside in Palafitos (wooden houses raised on stilts) along the banks of the river, and spend most of their daily lives in canoes fishing in the nearby caños and hunting and gathering in the surrounding forests.
As skilled craftspeople, the Warao build their Palafitos and canoes from forest wood using traditional techniques, and, owing to increased contact with tourists, have also begun to carve figurines from balsa wood and to make necklaces, baskets and hammocks from the leaves and seeds of the ubiquitous Moriche palm. The Moriche palm, however, supplies more than just the basis for artisanal work. Otherwise known as the ‘tree of life’, the Moriche provides the Indians with fruit, juices and a sweet pulp that can be made into a type of bread.
Moreover, the trunk of the palm is used to cultivate a thumb-sized beetle grub, the Moriche worm, a nutritious dietary supplement. Visit the Indians and take a glimpse of their way of living and a jungle walk with experienced guides to venture into this mysterious world of the Warao Indians. Get in touch with the tropical rainforest. Return to the camp.
Day 4: Orinoco Delta - Ciudad Bolivar.
Breakfast with free time until your transfer to Ciudad Bolivar. Ciudad Bolivar is the ancient city of the Amazons. Free time in Ciudad Bolivar with a visit to its ancient museums, colonial houses and gold boutiques. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Ciudad Bolivar – Canaima.
Breakfast and transfer to the airport with a 1 hour flight to Canaima. Arrival to the camp where we will receive a welcome drink and a short introducing. Sightseeing around the lagoon to see the magic water falls close up: The Golondrina, Wadama and Hacha water falls. After that we make an excursion to the Sapo Falls, enjoy the 20 minutes’ walk that will take you the base of this very amazing waterfall. you will be able to cross beneath the water curtain formed by the waterfall on its way down. Return to the camp with free time to enjoy a bath in the on Canaima.
Day 6: The Angel Falls Adventure.
Departure to Ratoncito island and begin the river excursion through Carrao and the Churun River. Lunch will be served by the Indians enjoy your best smoked chicken. After a quick stop at the camp, you will begin the trekking that will take you through the forest and will end at the base of the highest waterfall in the world: The Angel Falls. Navigationon the river alongside the Auyantepuy, this fantastic and mysterious formation will drag your attention throughout the trip. The mountain changes right before your eyes, taking shapes that will make you understand why is known as the devil’s mountain, ‘cause it disguises taking amazing figures. Throughout the trip you will be amazed by nature and its glorious way of putting things together so it seems that some magic hand put rocks on this place, rock piles that seem to be hanging by themselves up on the air, giving you the feeling that they are about to fall. Later on we will walk an hour in the jungle and arrive to the base of the Angel Falls, once you arrived there the waterfalls will dazzle you in all its glory, and you will have free time to take a relaxing bath at the pool that is formed by the water on his way down. Arrival at the Ratoncito Island where you will spend the night. Accommodation will be provided at the camp facing the waterfall.
Day 7: Return to Caracas.
Breakfast and return flight to Caracas via Puerto Ordaz. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 8: Caracas - Merida
Transfer to the airport with flight to Merida. Transfer to the hotel with accommodation and a full day city tour. Be amazed during your trip on board the highest and longest cable car in the world. Ride up the mountains up to Pico Espejo, the highest mountain of Sierra Nevada National Park (4765 above sea level) from there the view of magical mountains, and tropical andean meadows will leave you breathless. Upon descesion have the opportunity to tour around Merida colonial houses and streets, since all history and flavor of Venezuelan traditions and culture are being beautifully kept by the Andean people? Get close to the warmth flavor of typical Andean villages with a marvelous tradition or harvest and gastronomy. The environment of a calm and bucolic life is defiantly a difference you will notice. Before returning to your hotel we make a brief stop at the typical market place in order to get you a souvenir. Return to your hotel.
Day 9: Merida.
Breakfast and transfer to the Paramo. During our transfer we will pass by all the hidden lagoons and picturesque towns the Andes has to offer. Mucubaji, Paramo de la Negra, are some of the highlights you will visit on your way. Arrival to Santo Domingo a typical town for accommodation in an ancient monastery.
Day 10: Merida - The Plains.
Breakfast with transfer to the Plains. On the route you will observe the changing landscapes and will have the opportunity to admire the birds. Arrival to the Plains after lunch. Prepare to take the first excursion on the plains getting in touch with the wildlife of the place. The Plains offers one of the biggest ecological reserves of the world. The accommodation will be provided in Hato Pinero.
Day 11: The Plains. (Los Llanos)
Jeep safari on the Plains to visit rivers and wild life.
Day 12: The Plains – Caracas.
After breakfast transfer to Caracas. Connecting flight back home.
